TEACHER TIMELINE FOR CCA MENTORSHIP PROGRAM


TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES

- Commit to the CCA program by signing the letter of commitment
- Use resources

  • business mentors
  • experienced CCA partner teacher
  • CCA sponsored orientation meetings and field trips


- Create interest within your district and community

  • Organize an intra-school competition
  • Send a participating team to the final CCA marketing competition

TEACHER TIMELINE FOR CCA MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

NOVEMBER

- Attend the mandatory CCA Orientation 1 and meet your CCA experienced teacher partner.
- Schedule your corporate mentor’s first visit.
- Share CCA program information (brochure, video, etc.) with administration and your department.

DECEMBER

- Host corporate mentor’s first visit (see description of corporate mentor visits) with interested students.
- Schedule the corporate mentor’s next visit for January or February.
- Encourage students to begin research.
- Publicize marketing program among students.

JANUARY

- Attend mandatory CCA Orientation 2 to network with experienced teachers and receive up-dates on the competition (end of January or beginning of February).
- Determine school competition dates with your corporate mentor.
- Apply for and plan to attend this year’s CCA field trip for participating schools.
- Schedule work sessions with students during or after school.

FEBRUARY

- Contact and schedule judges (administration, guidance, F. L. teacher, business professionals, etc.) for competition within your school.
- Continue work sessions with students and establish deadlines for project completion.
- Contact local or school newspaper reporter for story on your school’s competition.
- Contact the PTA and/or administration to demonstrate support for participants in your school competition (celebratory cake, pizza, prizes, certificates, etc.).

MARCH

- Schedule technology support for the competition (PowerPoint technology, audio support, taping of presentations for future use, etc.)
- Explain criteria evaluation form to judges and request immediate feedback for students.
- Invite administrator or fellow department member(s) to final CCA competition in April.
- Invite winning team to present at department meeting, school board meeting, business classes, etc.
- Meet with all teams to celebrate their accomplishments and the success of their learning (student breakfast/lunch with a debriefing session).
- Conduct the intra-school competition (see description of corporate mentor visits).

APRIL

- Accompany your team to the final competition. Good luck!
- Share evaluation forms with participating students.
- Apply for and plan to attend the field trip for winning teams.

MAY

- Attend mandatory CCA follow-up meeting to share participants’ input.
